Summer in Tennessee

First pastel painting of the year, finally got the energy and inspiration to paint something and oddly enough, of a subject that I find to be the most difficult. Though it isn't perfect, I see some improvements since my last landscape attempt.

Pastel on UArt mounted on board, 6 x 7.5

W.C. I find this to be a lovely landscape. If you do this well with what you "find difficult" you must do some smashing stuff of other subjects. From the figurative things, I see on your blog, I think smashing is correct!

Thanks Shirley :) Landscapes are extremely difficult for me to paint, the foliage on this one actually resembles foliage to a point, normally the results looks more like some half eaten molding donuts :D

This turned out wonderfully, W.C.! The foliage looks great and the flowers and grasses are just perfect :). I hope this success will encourage you to do more landscapes in between your figurative works.

thanks Sonya :) Landscapes doesn't hold my interest as figure drawing/painting, but definitely will try to do more of them now that I have one that looks relatively correct :D
